Nitoto said that last year she produced about 1,000 gallons of wine in her shipping container and with the increased capacity the new space allows for, her goal is to at least triple that amount.

Free Range Flower Winery will also have its first tasting room in the space, which will also be shared with Longevity.

Long originally founded Longevity Wines in 2008 with his wife Debra, who died of pancreatic cancer in 2019. He told the Weekly that the couple had previously vowed to never share space with another winery, but he said in his role as a mentor in the wine industry, he started to reconsider.

"I'm pretty responsive to anybody. I've had some great mentors along the way and I'm trying to reciprocate by doing the same," Long said.

He also said that he felt Nitoto was the right fit for this opportunity.

"I don't know if I would just offer this up to anybody. I've had offers before and turned them down," Long said. "I think part of it is that (Nitoto) is fun and she's really eager to learn and understand and progress, and being in the position that I am to help, I'm more than happy to at this point."

Long also noted that he doesn't feel like they are competing with each other because he makes grape wine and Nitoto makes flower wine.

Nitoto said she is excited for this next chapter in Livermore and grateful for Long's support.

"We're in this position that we haven't been in before where somebody is not only believing in us but also putting some weight behind it," she said, adding that she and her business partner had been in talks with other wineries throughout the years who said they supported her work but were not open to sharing their facilities.

While Nitoto said that she was still in the process of settling into the space and would likely not be fully open for several weeks, Free Range Flower Winery recently participated in a soft-opening of the shared tasting room to begin introducing their wines to their new community.

According to a post on the winery's Instagram, they will be taking reservations for Saturdays and some Sundays through Dec. 18.

Three sisters from Kansas break the 100-year mark and reveal the secret of their longevity – Market Research Telecast

In the same way, they highlighted all the technological advances that have been created in the last hundred years such as kitchens, refrigerators, washing machines and even womens clothing because in their time there were no pants or jeans, they only used dresses.

The aforementioned media, in the note it made to the three sisters, asked the protagonists of these stories to give some advice to the youngest and thus serve them so that they can maintain a mostly healthy and long life, such as they have achieved it by living more than 10 years.

Around this time of year there is usually a lot of media around mens health issues. Now, while the conversation is often geared towards Movember and the risks of prostate cancer, it would be irresponsible if we did not awareness around mens mental health too!

According to statistics, South African men are four times more likelyto die by suicide than women. Its clear that mens mental health is a serious issue, both in South Africa and across the world. Unfortunately, many men choose to suffer in silence, with one of the contributing factors being their refusal to be vulnerable.

It is because of this that South African rugby captain Siya Kolisi has taken it upon himself to not only help dismantle thestereotypes associated with mens vulnerability, but hes also hoping to encourage them to seek help when it comes to theirmental well-being.

According to research, women are more likely to go to the doctor than men. In fact, it appears that men routinely avoid going to the doctor, with some even admitting that theyd rather do household chores than visit the doctor.

While there are many reasons for this, the most obvious is that men would rather not be seen as vulnerable or in need of help.

I think hesitancy is related to social norms. explains Siya Kolisi, Men are told that they need to be strong and be in control of their emotions, men dont cry, that they must rely on themselves and are discouraged from speaking openly about their emotions.

However, with the Rugby World Cup winner adding that men are battling mental health disorders that include depression, anxiety, and addictive disorders, its important for us to break these stigmas.

It would be naive not to acknowledge how many African cultures are rooted in patriarchy, and this has definitely influenced the way in which we approach mens health issues.

Kolisi points out that the stigma around mens mental health in black communities is especially rampant, and its something that requires our immediate attention.

Men often suffer in silence when mental health issues are usually not properly prioritized, he says. Kolisi adds that the association of mental health with weakness is also a problem that needs to be addressed. Not only that, but the notion that men shouldnt display any form of emotion is an issue that needs to be tackled, especially because it sets a dangerous precedence.

When some communities process grief, men are not allowed to show emotions or to cry. says Kolisi,When my grandmother and mother died, I was numb, and it was only later on in life where I learned how to process that grief.

Change starts at home, and thats something that the 30-year-old sportsman is conscious of. As such, the father-of-two has made it his priority to teach his son the importance of being vulnerable.

I show emotions. I tell him I love him, I kiss him. I hug him, all the things that I longed for as a boy, I am giving back to my son. says Kolisi, adding that heallowshis sonto see him cryso that he canshow himthatits okay to show emotions,

I teach him that it is okay to say that he is struggling with something. I celebrate with him when he asks for support. I am teaching him not to limit himself from experiencing the full range of his humanity.

While some may argue that its easy for a world-renowned sports hero to be on top of his mental health, thats not necessarily the case. As Naomi Osaka has shown us, it can be hard to be at the top, especially in the age of social media.

Now, Kolisi admits that social media can provide powerful platforms that encourage social change, such as the Dove Men + Care Care Conversations that addressed mens mental health. However, he also acknowledges that these apps can be harmful, especially when youre in the public eye,

So how does the sportsman navigate the ugly side of social media?

I do my best to sometimes limit my engagement on social media and focus on my internal process. I do my best during the week, in training preparation for a match, and on match day, I give it my all. If we dont win, I need to forgive myself, and run it back.

I then come back and first apologize and then talk through how the situation made me feel. I listen to worship and read before bed to calm myselfdown.

Its important for people, regardless of gender, to understand that their mental health matters. They need to know that its okay to reach out for help when struggling. In fact, reaching out isnt a sign of weakness, but rather of strength.

Whats more, by being vulnerable and open, youre also sending a message that its okay to talk about your feelings. This is something that everyone needs to hear, especially the younger generation,

Its that time of year again when people start planning for the holidays. During the holiday season, many of us tend to gain weight. This is mostly because of the increased consumption of calorie-rich food and the sedentary behavior during the holidays. In Western societies, this annual weight gain is around 1 pound which doesnt sound like much until you have to get rid of it after the holidays.

While it can be overwhelming to start making New Years resolutions, it can be helpful to start with a plan to maintain your health style throughout the festivities. Mindset is important during the holidays, as it can be challenging to maintain a healthy eating plan and stay positive when things go wrong. Self-compassion is also a great way to allow yourself to come out on the other side happy and healthy.

Its important to be realistic when it comes to goals. Trying to go the entire holiday season without eating chocolate is likely not going to work. Once you have a good idea of which events are worth a food splurge, you can then evaluate them. That way, you wont feel left out but will also remain in control. Once you have decided which events youre going to splurge on, enjoy them guilt-free.

Eating mindfully is ultimately much more critical than controlling what you eat with an iron fist. We tend to get busy over the festive season and thus dont plan ahead or eat proper food. We end up eating in a rush or snacking rather than eating slowly and enjoying the food.

Whilst you eat, try to remove all your electronics. You dont need to be distracted by your phone while you are eating. In fact, being distracted by your TV or phone will likely lead to overeating. When you eat, chew slowly and focus on enjoying the food. This will give you a much better idea of when you are full.

One of the most important factors to consider when planning for food is making sure that youre eating properly both before and after the event. This is particularly important when it comes to cocktail parties and drinks after work. Eating a healthy snack or meal beforehand will help you to avoid making poor food choices. For longer dinner parties, try eating a balanced meal and top up on veggies to avoid feeling hungry. If you do snack, try to make sure you choose a healthy option that will help keep you fuller for longer.

Its also best to really think about why youre snacking: are you hungry or just bored? During the festive season, there are often treats everywhere. Sweets and chocolates are much more easily accessible than they are during the rest of the year.

If you struggle not to grab a bar of chocolate when theyre on the counter, try putting them away and bringing them out only occasionally. You dont have to totally avoid sugary snacks, just try to opt for fruit, nuts, or veggies most of the time.

Sleep is also vital. Stress can lead to a lack of sleep and vice versa. Sleep deprivation, like stress, is linked to weight gain. Lack of sleep seems to increase your hunger levels and is even linked to a lower metabolic rate. Try to make sure that you are getting enough sleep and arent sacrificing it in order to get through your to-do list.

When it comes to anxiety, its not a rare problem. In fact, about 40 million Americans live with anxiety disorders. Over the festive season, anxiety can become even worse, especially if you have a tense relationship with some of your family. Generally, we can manage to avoid those family members that are difficult to deal with for the duration of the year. But over the holiday season, it can often feel like we are pressured into seeing all of our family. This can cause even more anxiety and stress. Strangely, though, it seems that some foods are linked to anxiety and may even trigger it. So what are these foods and could avoiding them around the holiday season help?

Bizarrely, we often tend to use alcohol as a crutch and a way to manage anxiety, especially in social situations where we feel uncomfortable. Generally, the holiday season also sees us consuming more alcohol than we might in the normal course of events. Its no secret that alcohol can have a negative impact on hydration and sleep.

Erin Palinski-Wade, RD, CDE explains it can trigger anxiety symptoms. Technically, alcohol is a depressant that can make you feel calmer. But actually, usually, this backfires. Another thing that alcohol does is change the levels of serotonin and neurotransmitters in the brain. Not only can this make the anxiety worse when youre drinking, but once the alcohol wears off, you may feel even more anxious than before.

Drinking on an empty stomach is a particularly bad idea as it can lead to a severe spike in blood sugar which can trigger feelings of anxiety. If you do want to have a drink, its best to do so in moderation and make sure that your alcohol intake is not excessive. Healthline recommends about 1 drink per day for women and 2 drinks per day for men. Of course, if you are on medication, its also a good idea to check in with your doctor. If you dont want to feel left out but want to avoid drinking, mocktails or alcohol-free beer are typically good options.

Rather frustratingly is that you, like me, are a bit of a coffee fiend, caffeine really inns your best friend if you suffer from anxiety. The more caffeine you consume, the more likely it is to cause anxiety. Dr. Daniel Devine, a Philadelphia-based, dual-board certified internist, and geriatrician explain that the

effects seem to be most prominent in those that consume five or more cups of coffee per day. Of course, this depends on your tolerance levels, so its best to try to ascertain what works for you and what your personal limits are.

The reason behind this seems to be the fact that it activates adenosine receptors in the central nervous system. These receptors are linked to the mediation of the fight or flight response. In general, caffeine is perfectly safe as long as you dont have too much. It is however important to mention that coffee isnt the only thing that contains caffeine, and its important to think about other foods and drinks that might contain it. The FDA recommends a daily caffeine intake of no more than 400 mg. For reference, the average grande medium roast coffee from Starbucks contains about 310 mg of caffeine.

Its important to start off with the fact that not all sugar is bad for you. And theres no way to completely avoid it, especially over the holiday season. The real culprit is added sugar. It has a nasty effect on your blood sugar levels. This rollercoaster also causes spikes and dips in energy and when your blood sugar crashes, it can cause a decline in mood and this is when anxiety levels tend to spike.

This happens as the body releases insulin in an attempt to stabilize blood sugar levels. However, this results in the body working harder in order to get back to

normal. This is what causes those nasty highs and lows. And it isnt just your usual culprits of soft drinks, cakes, and biscuits, there are a whole host of unlikely foods to watch out for, including:

If you already suffer from anxiety and are worried about becoming even more anxious over the holiday season, you might also be able to look to your plate. There seems to be no doubt that there is a direct connection between blood sugar levels and anxiety levels.

Making sure that you monitor and regulate your alcohol intake, caffeine, and sugar levels could definitely help you to combat anxiety. Of course, its definitely not a cure for it and, if you are on medication, make sure that you keep taking it as you should, especially during a time that can cause high stress and anxiety levels.

Bill had spent decades searching for his long-lost little sister, Beryl, who he last saw when they were separated at an orphanage as children, following the death of both their parents.

Our mother died of pneumonia after being in Adelaide hospital for 16 days. Dad died on the Iron Crown, torpedoed by an enemy submarine, Bill explained.

Bill was 11 when his dad died. Not long after Bill and Beryl arrived at the orphanage, they were adopted out to separate families.

That was the last time they saw each other until recently.

Last Sunday, Bill had a visit from his granddaughter Natalie, who had been helping him find Beryl.

To his surprise, Natalie said Beryl was alive and well and living in Adelaide, where they arranged a long-awaited catch-up.

A business called The Ugly Christmas Tree Co has popped up on Facebook, selling some pretty average looking trees for the bargain price of $20 a pop.

North Shore Hospital doctor Alastair Richards won the WESPA World Scrabble Championship final on the weekend, the Waitemat District Health Board has proudly announced on Facebook.
