5. Trends, Patterns and Relationships in Biology NQ
As a part of life, we are a part of nature and not apart from nature. As such we have everything to learn from life; who we are, how we came to be and what is our role here. We consider the question; What is life? While it sounds simple, the diversity and complexity of life abounds with contradictions and exceptions which mock naïve definitions. One biologist put it this way- in fifty words- "Life is an information processing system capable of replication with variation mediated by metabolism through biochemistry in an aqueous environment and subjected to selection in the stochastic chance and necessity consequential from the big bang resulting in perceptions of beauty, knowledge, truth, love, consciousness, free will, morality, self, and life." When and how did life begin on Earth? Why is water important to life? Why is there duality in biology? Why is there sex? In this lecture we examine some of the commonalities of life on this planet. From:Albert KauschViews:0 0ratingsTime:01:17:10More inScience Technology

The Important Role of Immunology Testing in Hematology
In this video, Dr. Roshini Abraham, Consultant in Clinical Biochemistry and Immunology, outlines the critical overlap between hematology practices and immunology testing. There are many times when it is critical for hematologists to discuss complex cases with clinical and laboratory immunologists including in the areas of test selection, genetic analysis and immune system monitoring. In particular, immunology testing is clinically and financially effective because it helps monitor the adequate numerical and functional recovery of the immune system.From:mayoclinicViews:1 0ratingsTime:02:53More inScience Technology
