Biophysical Tools For Biologists, Volume Two: In Vivo Techniques
ll4.me Biophysical Tools For Biologists, Volume Two: In Vivo Techniques Driven in part by the development of genomics, proteomics, and bioinformatics as new disciplines, there has been a tremendous resurgence of interest in physical methods to investigate macromolecular structure and function in the context of living cells. This volume in Methods in Cell Biology is devoted to biophysical techniques in vivo and their applications to cellular biology. The volume covers methods-oriented chapters on fundamental as well as cutting-edge techniques in molecular and cellular biophysics. This book is directed toward the broad audience of cell biologists, biophysicists, pharmacologists, and molecular biologists who employ classical and modern biophysical technologies or wish to expand their expertise to include such approaches. It will also interest the biomedical and biotechnology communities for biophysical characterization of drug formulations prior to FDA approval.* Describes techniques in the context of important biological problems* Delineates critical steps and potential pitfalls for each method Publisher: Academic Press Illustration: N Language: ENG Title: Biophysical Tools for Biologists, Volume Two: In Vivo Techniques Pages: 00224 (Encrypted PDF) On Sale: 2008-11-03 SKU-13/ISBN: 9780123725219 Category: Science : Biotechnology Category: Science : Life Sciences - Biochemistry Category: Science : Life Sciences - Cell Biology Driven in part by the development of genomics ...From:dustinrezendes9854Views:2 0ratingsTime:00:10More inPeople Blogs

Protein Physics: A Course Of Lectures – , Oleg Ptitsyn – Video

Protein Physics: A Course Of Lectures - , Oleg Ptitsyn
ll4.me Protein Physics: A Course Of Lectures - , Oleg Ptitsyn Protein Physics is a lively presentation of the most general problems of protein structure, folding and function from the physics and chemistry perspective, based on lectures given by the authors. It deals with fibrous, membrane and, most of all, with the best studied water-soluble globular proteins, in both their native and denatured states. The major aspects of protein physics are covered systematically, physico-chemical properties of polypeptide chains; their secondary structures; tertiary structures of proteins and their classification; conformational transitions in protein molecules and their folding; intermediates of protein folding; folding nuclei; physical backgrounds of coding the protein structures by their amino acid sequences and protein functions in relation to the protein structure. The book will be of interest to undergraduate and graduate level students and researchers of biophysics, biochemistry, biology and material science. * Designed for a wide audience of undergraduate and graduate students, as well as being a reference for researchers in academia and industry* Covers the most general problems of protein structure, folding, and function and introduces the key concepts and theories* Deals with fibrous, membrane and especially water-soluble globular proteins, in both their native and denatured states* Summarizes and presents in a systematic form the results of several decades of world wide ...From:mattiecolon9865Views:0 0ratingsTime:00:10More inPeople Blogs

Delaying the Degenerative Disease of Aging – Video

Delaying the Degenerative Disease of Aging
Bruce Ames is a professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of California, Berkeley, and a senior scientist at Children #39;s Hospital Oakland Research Institute (CHORI). He is the inventor of the Ames test, a system for easily and cheaply testing the mutagenicity of compounds. His research focuses on cancer and aging and he has authored over 500 scientific publications. He is among the few hundred most-cited scientists in all fields. Ames #39; current research includes identifying agents that delay the mitochondrial decay of aging, understanding the role of mitochondrial decay in aging, particularly in the brain, optimizing micronutrient intakes in the population to prevent disease, malnutrition, and obesity. He is also interested in mutagens as they relate to cancer prevention and aging. He is a recipient of the Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement in 1985, the Japan Prize in 1997, the National Medal of Science in 1998 and the Thomas Hunt Morgan Medal in 2004, among many others. He was born and raised in New York City. He is a graduate of the Bronx High School of Science. His undergraduate studies were at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and his graduate studies were completed at the California Institute of Technology.
