The New York Post reportsthat ten-year-old Isabella Nicola Cabrera was born with no left hand, but thanks to a specialized prosthesis created by a team of bioengineering students at the George Mason University, Cabrera can once again play the violin.

Cabrerasmusic teacher and her school had previously built a rudimentary prosthesis that she used successfullyfor years, but ABC News reports the prosthetic was heavy. The instructor contacted the bioengineering students at the George Mason University, where he had graduated from, to see if they could develop something more advanced for the young musician.

Bioengineering studentsAbdul Gouda, Mona Elkholy, Ella Novoselsky, Racha Salha, and Yasser Alhindi decided to take on designing the prosthetic as a project required of them for their senior year. Its sort of a lot of pressure, Gouda told ABC News. Youve got this young girl whos counting on you and youre expected to deliver.

At atest fitting on Thursday, the team of bioengineers also surprised Cabrera with a secondary attachment for the prosthesis which would allow her to ride a bicycle.

With offseason program starting, Cowboys begin chemistry test – ESPN (blog)

FRISCO, Texas -- A recurring theme from the Dallas Cowboys' success in 2016 was their chemistry.

Whether the winning led to the chemistry or the chemistry led to the winning is an unanswerable question, but the Cowboys clearly believed in it.

On Monday, the Cowboys officially start their offseason program at The Star, but for the better part of a month a number of players have been at the facility for unofficial captains' practices.

Phase 1 of the offseason program is really no different than what the players have been going through, except now there can be official contact with the strength and conditioning coaches. Players can go through strength and conditioning work as well as rehab for two weeks.

Phase 2 lasts three weeks with players and coaches interacting for the first time in teaching sessions on the field, but the offense and defense cannot work against each other.

The Cowboys will begin Phase 3 of the program on May 23 and have three weeks of organized team activities (10 practices total) followed by the only mandatory event of the offseason: the June veteran minicamp. There is no contact or pads, but the offense and defense can go through one-on-one, seven-on-seven and 11-on-11 drills.

A year ago the Cowboys credited their offseason work for their camaraderie that led them through difficult times in the season. Head coach Jason Garrett believes players who work together will stick together. The Cowboys dealt with injuries beyond the compression fracture suffered by Tony Romo in the preseason last year and still succeeded. Left tackle Tyron Smith, wide receiver Dez Bryant, cornerbacks Orlando Scandrick and Morris Claiborne and left guard La'el Collins missed significant time last year, but the Cowboys felt the work put in through May and June served them well from September on.

While a lot of the Cowboys' free-agent signings have been at The Star for the captains' workouts, the start of the offseason program allows players like Nolan Carroll II, Stephen Paea, Damontre Moore and Byron Bell to get used to how the Cowboys do business in an official way.

The workouts will also allow players coming back from missing last season, like Jaylon Smith and Charles Tapper, to get on the field away from the rehab process. Players like DeMarcus Lawrence (back) Tyrone Crawford (shoulder), who are coming back from offseason surgeries, should be able to step up their work.

The Cowboys will also be on the lookout for new leaders to emerge.

The Cowboys have lost Romo, Barry Church and Brandon Carr to either the CBS Sports booth or free agency. Those three played significant roles and also had solid leadership voices that will be missed.

Jason Witten and Sean Lee have the largest voices on either side of the ball, but Dak Prescott and Bryant will have the opportunity to grow into larger roles, as well as third-year safety Byron Jones. The type of leader Garrett believes is best are those who lead by example. It's not about how much weight is lifted or how fast they run, but how dedicated they are to the process.

Monday officially starts the process.

If the Cowboys can follow up their 2016 success with as much or more success in 2017, they will point back to the work they put in during March, April and May.

Person of Interest Season 2 Report Card: A-

With HR rebuilding, a mysterious organization revealed, a new female super spy added to the team, and Root still trying to find the Machine, it's a wonder that Reese, Finch, Carter and Fusco find any time to kick back and relax.

And now with the Machine unleashed, it looks like their work is only just beginning.

So how did the sophomore season fare? Read on to find out what we thought of Person of Interest Season 2 in this TV Fanatic Report Card...

Overwhelmed By the Suspects

Best episode: This was hard to pick because there were so many solid episodes this season including the last two, "Zero Day" and "God Mode." Even the controversial yet unique introduction of Sam Shaw was a favorite of mine. But I'm going to pick the hotel centric "Booked Solid." Maybe I just liked seeing Zoe Morgan return, but this episode seemed to have it all including action, humor, and a little flirting between Reese and Zoe. And while the episode was pure entertaining fun, the larger story revealed a major twist: Root was infiltrating the big wigs at Washington.

Worst episode: It's unfortunate, but Kara's return felt far too quick and dropped in "Dead Reckoning." Not only did it seem pointless to have Reese and Snow do her work (she most of the time just did it all anyway), but she felt like a silly villain complete with "bad guy" dialogue. I was hoping to see more from her, especially with regards to Reese, but we never really got into her character besides the fact she was working for a new mysterious group connected to the machine. Now her actions on releasing the virus set up what was a great final outcome, but ultimately, the episode left much to be desired. RIP Kara.

Best character: In a lot of ways, Person of Interest Season 1 was heavily focused on Reese (who continues to show how much of a cool character he is), yet season 2 allowed viewers to really zero in on Finch. I'm going to give him best character because we saw so many facets from his early days of ignoring the "irrelevant numbers," his loving side with Grace, his friendship with Nathan Ingram and Reese, and his determination to do good even when the chips were down. It's great to see his character grow and there is clearly so much more to learn.

Worst character: I'm digging deep for this one because the core cast and a majority of the recurring characters are fantastic, but worst character has to be Detective Raymond Terney. He just came across as too obvious and cliche of a bad guy especially when going after Carter. He wasn't in a ton of scenes so it never felt like an overuse, but there wasn't near as much depth to his character as other ones we've gotten to see for only one episode. Good thing Carter got the best of him.

Best recurring character: While I'm on board with Sam Shaw and curious what they plan to do with her character, and Leon never fails to crack me up with his outrageous situations and humor, I've got to give it to Root. There's something about the way Amy Acker allows Root to be brilliantly genius and homicidal maniac at the same time. Add that to the fact that she finds a certain connection to Finch and a determination to the Machine, she's a compelling character to watch on screen. I wonder what her getting that last phone call on the finale means?

Hopes for Season 3: With another solid season in the books, I hope the show keeps it going and further expands on the characters and the universe this show has created. I got a sense from speaking with EPs Jonathan Nolan and Greg Plageman that they've got concepts mapped out for further seasons which makes it great to watch a real story unfold. I definitely want to learn some more about Reese, hopefully see Finch reunite with Grace, Bear get in some more action, and another season that combines the larger and smaller stories so succinctly that the humor, drama, and everything in between makes for a continuation of one of TV's top shows.

Overall Grade: A-

‘Anatomy of a Fall’ Director Justine Triet Reacts to ‘Crazy’ Oscar Nomination – TheWrap

Eight months after scoring the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival, Justine Triet is now an Oscar nominee. Her French courtroom mystery Anatomy of a Fall landed in five hot categories on Tuesday, including Best Picture, Best Director for Triet, Best Actress for Sandra Hller, Best Original Screenplay and Best Film Editing.

The news was greeted with joy and elation by Triet and her team, who watched the Oscar nominations live on television in Paris.

We were so, so stressed before the announcement, she told TheWrap. And then when we saw the nomination for the script, we were so happy, but then it kept continuing with the other nominations in other categories. I was crying.

The film, released by distributor Neon, has earned $4 million in North America since opening in October, but that number is destined to climb, especially in the wake of these nominations.

TheWrap caught up with Triet shortly after the announcement on Tuesday, as the filmmaker was still buzzing with excitement and gathering her thoughts about the incredible news. (Translator Assia Turquier-Zauberman assisted during the interview.)

Youre in Paris now. What has the reaction been like there? In France its totally crazy. The French people are very high right now. Not high like on drugs [laughs], but high in their mood. We were so lucky. I mean, we dont represent France [in the Best International Film category] but weve had a lot of audiences who have enjoyed the movie in France. A lot of people were so happy for us.

And ultimately, the film that France submitted, Tran Ahn Hungs The Taste of Things, did not get nominated for Best International Film. Yes, I know, but this is not a sport. I dont think this is about one movie being better than another movie. No. Of course, its not good news [for France], but weve gotten past this question, because we are nominated in a lot of categories.

How did it feel when you saw that Sandra Hller was nominated for Best Actress? Oh, my. I was so happy. Sandra is so linked to this movie, unlike anyone ever has been for one of my films. She was in my mind before we even started writing it. So of course shes totally merged into the whole creative process. She deserves it.

There are three movies directed by women nominated for Best Picture: Anatomy of a Fall, Barbie, Past Lives. Thats a record. It means a lot for me. And for women. Its a little victory, in a way. I think were in the beginning of a huge revolution for women. Im 45 years old, Im not 20, so Ive seen a different world before now. A lot of things are changing, and I cant wait to observe the young generation of women because I think they will lead a different life. And hopefully it will be a different world.

But in the Best Director category, your fellow nominees are all men.Yeah, I know, this is completely crazy.

In 96 years, you are the eighth. What?! Wow. This is crazy. Somebody else told me that its very rare for women. I didnt know this. Im trying to enjoy every minute of this and it really means a lot, but thats crazy. I am a huge fan of Greta Gerwig, a huge fan for what shes doing as a director and as an actress. And I was very impressed by Celine Song [the director of Past Lives]. Im very proud to be with this gang in that [Best Picture] category.

But that said, your other nominees include Martin Scorsese and Yeah! Its not just anyone on this list. Its Martin Scorsese. Im a huge fan of Martin Scorsese, of course. Im a big fan of Yorgos Lanthimos and I love Poor Things. And Christopher Nolan, of course. And Jonathan Glazer. Its a fairy tale to be nominated with these genius directors.

How does it feel to share the screenplay nomination with your partner in life, Arthur Harari? In a way, its very beautiful to be nominated together. And wonderful to be able to share it with somebody so close to me. This movie was written by two directors. Arthur is not a screenwriter as much as a director. And so when youre in the writing process with another director, you are not speaking just about the dialogue or the story, but imagining a whole world. And so it is a marriage of two different styles and two different brains. And sometimes we didnt agree on a lot of things. But that was okay. The pandemic time was an interesting time to write this, because we were stuck and forced, in a way, to finish the script together.

This interview has been edited and condensed for clarity.
