Bucky: Concept animation for children #39;s education
This animation is a concept piece I developed for the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering in 2009. Bucky is one of four "Nanomations" characters I created who were intended to teach children (and adults) about nanotechnologies researchers are testing for use in health care. Drs. Kroto, Curl and Smalley were awarded the 1996 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their roles in the discovery of buckminsterfullerene and the related class of molecules, the fullerenes. This carbon-based device, more commonly referred to as a "bucky ball," is now used in health research as a potential drug and gene delivery device.From:lostcozproductionsViews:4 0ratingsTime:00:50More inFilm Animation

Nan: "Nanomations" concept animation for children #39;s education
This animation is a concept movie I developed for a children #39;s education project for the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering. Nan was the first of the "Nanomations" I created to teach kids about nanotechnologies and how researchers hope to use them in health care. The inspiration for Nan #39;s hair was an image of a nanoflower developed by Dr. Mark Welland and Ghim Wei Ho of the Nanoscale Science Group, University of Cambridge, UK, and permission for use of the image was given for this use.From:lostcozproductionsViews:1 0ratingsTime:00:46More inFilm Animation

Quantum Dot Learning Adventure – Video
Quantum Dot Learning Adventure
I developed this animation, from creative epiphany to final rendering, including background research, content scope and scripting, graphics, and voices, for the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB). Dot and her nano counterpart, Lil, teach kids about how researchers hope to use quantum dots in health care. You can see the captioned version of this movie on the NIBIBTV YouTube channel.From:lostcozproductionsViews:1 0ratingsTime:06:31More inFilm Animation
