Serena Williams, the 23-time Grand Slam champion, has been a major part of the sport since her teenage years. She has made and broken several records. Further, Williams has inspired many youngsters to pursue their dreams with the level of dedication she did. However, after ruling the sport for over 25 years, she now is ready to say goodbye, and Emma Raducanu, a player who grew up watching her reign, had a few things to say.

The British tennis professional who is fueling up to touch the peak of her career shared her thoughts on the legend and how she has impacted her.

The 19-year-old rising star, in an interview, addressed the former World no.1s retirement. She said, its incredible her career. She has achieved so much. And to see her around in this U.S. swing is really inspiring.

Thereafter, she added, Like she keeps playing because she obviously loves the game. I think that longevity of a career is something we aspire to achieve as well.

Raducanu has never had an opportunity to test her skills against the seven-time Wimbledon champion, but still believes, she definitely changed the game. To dominate that much, well, theres not really been someone who has dominated like her in the womens game. So I think she did change the game a lot in that respect.

Raducanu and Williams both enrolled for the ongoing Canadian Masters. While the former walked out of the tournament after incurring an opening round defeat, the three-time champion is still fighting in the tournament and met the Brit during a warm-up session. Though the conversation got limited to greetings because of the rain.

Further, the six-time US Open champion is set to hang her racket post this seasons American hard-court Grand Slam. Following Toronto, she will compete in Cincinnati and then finally in the US majors.

The 2021 US Open champion has been through a lot this year. At first, during the Australian Open, she struggled with a painful blister. Following that, she had to walk out of the Indian Wells because of a loss caused by her stiff back.

Then the Brit was unable to overcome her lower back injury and was forced out of the Italian Open. Further, in the very first match of the grass swing, she incurred a side strain injury which affected her performance in her home Grand Slam event, the Wimbledon Championships.
