I-LAMP WORKSHOP 2012 Quantum transport and quantum effects in photosynthetic systems SPEAKER: Dr. Elisabetta Collini TITLE: INSTITUTE: On behalf of the recently born #39; #39;Interdisciplinary Laboratories for Advanced Materials Physics #39; #39;, within the Department of Mathematcs and Physics at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Brescia (Italy), we are organizing a mini-workshop focusing on quantum transport and quantum effects in photosynthetic systems. Evidence of coherent quantum energy transfer has been recently found in photosynthetic light-harvesting systems in physiological conditions. These findings raised many unanswered questions. The purpose of the workshop is to bring together both experimental and theoretical scientists from different fields (chemistry, mesoscopic physics, biology, and quantum information science.) to discuss both general problems about transport in the coherent quantum regime and more specific problems about energy transfer in photosynthetic systems.
