Graham Brookes, Benefits of Ag Biotech, National Press Club of Australia Address
Graham Brookes, Director of PG Economics, is an internationally renowned economist with over 25 years #39; experience in undertaking research and analysis on the impact of policy, regulation and the introduction of new technology in agriculture. Globally recognised as a leader in his field, Mr Brookes has extensively examined the socioeconomic and environmental benefits of new technologies on the agriculture and food sectors. He has undertaken a number of research projects relating to the benefits of agricultural biotechnology. This work includes: an annual analysis of the global economic and environmental benefits of GM crops as well as multiple peer-reviewed papers on co existence of GM and non GM crops; the possible impact of biotech crops in a number of EU countries (eg, UK, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary); the impact of GMO labelling in Europe; the economic impact of GMO zero tolerance legislation; and the cost to the UK economy of failure to embrace agricultural biotechnology. The production of biotech crops in Australia has attracted a great deal of attention from the media, often driven by misinformation and a lack of understanding about the science of biotechnology. Mr Brookes is a specialist in analysing the impact of technology on regional and national economies and the environment and provides a fascinating international perspective and associated case studies on the ways in which biotechnology can assist in meeting the future challenges of global food security.From:CropLifeAustraliaViews:0 0ratingsTime:01:00:20More inScience Technology
