CHAPTER TWO: Heat waves, especially in urban areas where heat gets trapped by concrete and metal, cause the most weather-related fatalities in the US every year. If overall climate temperatures rise, could the length and occurrence of heat waves increase? In this chapter, Samson explain the weather behind heat waves and asks how we combat that heat in a society where the size and population of urban areas are growing every day.
