Grey’s Anatomy Sneak Peeks: The Formula

In a sneak peek from next week's Grey's Anatomy, the doctors ponder how aggressively to go after those responsible for the crash - and learn the surprisingly cold realities of how that might be achieved.

In "Second Opinion," the doctors sit down with their legal counsel, featuring guest star Andrew Leeds (Bones), and are blown away by the advice they receive. Some are more receptive to it than others.

Will they accept the settlement or pursue more? Should they? There's no easy answer.

Check out that scene, and a second clip featuring Alex's favorite struggling intern, and a third featuring Cristina's return to Seattle and the awkward sit-down with Owen that follows, below:

Follow this link link for our official Grey's Anatomy review of this Thursday's unorthodox Meredith / Cristina-focused episode, then check out two promos for the upcoming "Second Opinion" as well.

The Following Trailer: Viewer Discretion Advised

Fox has released a new extended trailer for The Following and - you may have heard this before but it's really meant this time around - viewer discretion is advised. Seriously.

The drama stars Kevin Bacon as a FBI agent forced back into action because a serial killer he once put away (played eerily well by James Purefoy) has escaped... and is creating a new cult of serial killers.

The Following premieres Monday, January 21 at 9 p.m. and it's easily the best new drama of the 2012-2013 season. Watch now:

Wedding Band Preview: Very Funny and Talented

TBS has another chance to prove it's Very Funny tonight, as Wedding Band premieres at 10 p.m. EST.

The one-hour long sitcom stars Brian Austin Green, Harold Perrineau and Melora Hardin and centers on a group of friends who bust loose every weekend at weddings and Bar Mitzvahs, having fun and meeting their fair share of women in the process.

Based on a group of friends, who have jobs and responsibilities during the week but break loose on the weekends and become the best wedding band you’ll find. Of course there’s also lots of romantic entanglements and other mishaps that pop up to keep the laughs coming.

In anticipation of the series, and having been entertained by the opening episodes I've already screened, I recently talked to Green and Hardin about the series...

TV Fanatic:  I was really impressed that the band is not actually laughable. You guys are very good. So talk to me about that being an important element of the show.
Brian Austin Green: We can play comedy songs, which only kind of last for so long, or we can stick with the element of what the show is, which is that our job is to make this believable, our job is to make this band honestly the most kickass wedding band anybody has ever seen. And I'm just saying that alone there's comedy in that. Like yes, they're a stadium style wedding band. I mean, you just never hear or see anything like that, let alone sit at a wedding [and] hear these amazing grand songs, and have pyrotechnics and confetti cannons going off. And throwing guitar picks out to the crowd.

Melora Hardin: Right, and they've got Rutherford breathing down their neck that it better be damn good... and that's why she takes them on in the first place. And they care so much about the event in a whole other way than Roxie cares about the event, but I'm glad you recognize that because they are awesome.

And when I looked at the episodes I was just like, it's so interesting to me that the show has all this music in it but it feels really fresh and it's actually kind of fresh because it's using music in just the way that music is. It's not like we're breaking into song like Glee does, like musical style, but it's just using music in the storyline in a truthful, honest way.

TVF: You made me re-appreciate Air Supply, so thank you.
BAG: Damn right we did!

Grimm Review: Cannibals and Kisses

It only took 11 episodes, but "To Protect and Serve Man" finally began making a hand out of some of this season’s story cards.

Hank Has a Different View

But before getting to Monroe, Juliette and Renard, let’s begin with the case.

As much as I tend to complain when Grimm decides to veer back to its procedural roots, tonight’s episode didn’t bother me in the slightest. It could be due to some of the serial arcs this season because they are slow burning, but then that would take away from the genuinely compelling case.

The reason the case was so captivating was because of the ambiguity surrounding Ferren. Even with the context of the Wesen world seven years later, and Hank wanting to do his best to make sure that he leaves no stones unturned before a man is set to death, it’s still difficult to piece together if Ferren is a man who is truly haunted by these images and reacted out of fear, or if he is something more.

No matter what the end result of Ferren’s character is, it’s great to see Hank continually expand in small moments over the course of this season. The knowing glance between him and Ferren at the end when Ferren asks if he’s seen the faces is a great example of this. Hank’s initiation into Nick’s world has been violent, to the least, and he’s stood steadfast and been an exemplary partner to Nick, but, for Hank, it’s probably nice to know that there are others with similar experiences.

As for Juliette and Renard, the sooner Monroe concocts and cooks this potion, the better. While it’s nice to see that Renard’s little privacy circle could be on the verge of crashing, it’s hard to know just what Monroe’s actions are going to be. Monroe is very loyal to Nick, but he also has a fondness (not in a gross Renard way thankfully) for Juliette. I’m wondering if he will respect Juliette’s privacy for her sake, and try to help her out of this jam without Nick knowing.

On the other hand, it’s equally as likely Monroe tells Nick everything. Whatever happens Monroe is about to get a little more information than the Grimm side previously knew.

One final moment of interest is Nick’s conversation with Juliette about what she remembers before heading into her coma. A few weeks back I speculated since Juliette doesn’t remember her love of Nick she can look at things objectively, and while she doesn’t remember why she was crying in front of the trailer (and Nick doesn’t really want to tell her) there are still plenty of touches that have been hit upon over the course of this season that Juliette can’t explain: Bud telling her Nick is a Grimm, the cat scratch, Nick’s odd schedule and secrecy, and, finally, the spice shop.

Juliette isn’t an idiot. At some point she’s going to start piecing together that Nick is up to some kind of extracurricular activities, and if she regains her memories a lot more will suddenly make a lot more sense to her.

Other thoughts:

  • So happy to see Rosalee again! Hopefully she’ll be back before next week’s fall finale.
  • With Rosalee’s hopefully soon return does that mean we can finally get Monroe back in the field with Nick?
  • I’m now hoping for a Renard centric episode based on the plot of The Hangover.
  • Tonight’s honorary member of Juliette’s rotating circle of gal pals is Katie Walder who is in one of my favorite indie movies: Shelter.

Blue Bloods Review: Evil Comes Home

"Nightmares" featured its scary moments, but its sad ones were far more powerful.

I expected more from an episode dealing with voodoo and the Catholic church. It felt as though the crime and the attacker were barely touched upon. I found myself hoping for more background on the Catholic church's stance on the voodoo community or the details of Tusain's exorcisms.

Danny Investigates a Strange Stabbing

The end came too quickly and too neatly wrapped. With that one voodoo ceremony we were left to believe his demons had left but other than the initial attack we never saw much of them to begin with. The hour missed the mark.

It actually seemed to focus more on introducing us to Danny's new partner than the demon story. Speaking of which…

My first impression of Detective Kate Lansing was that I wanted to order her a cheeseburger. Boy, she was skinny. I wished her background in Haiti was used to give us more background into this world and develop her character a bit more. Of course, being a former member of Internal Affairs leaves all types of possibilities for conflict down the line.

But seeing Jackie at the end broke my heart. Danny had a string of revolving partners that first season and none of them clicked before Jackie. The two have great chemistry as partners and friends and I'm really going to miss her. At least we got a farewell scene and a goodbye hug. I'd love to see Jackie return but from published reports of the actress' conflicts on the show I think it's highly unlikely.

Garrett's issues this week were surprising. I didn't see that coming and apparently neither did Garrett, as he explains to Frank in this Blue Bloods quote

The only bells going off were from good whiskey. | permalink

Poor guy definitely got played and I loved that Frank was willing to have Henry go a little old school to get the problem solved. I couldn't take losing Jackie and Garrett all in the same episode. That would just be cruel.

Once again we got some more time with Jamie and his story line was the saddest of all. My grandfather had Alzheimer's and it is a horribly nasty disease. It's as though the person you know disappears while they're still standing in front of you.

Malcolm was certainly stuck in the revolving door of the system and it's scary to think he could just be released over and over again.

I was a little surprised that Jamie didn't recognize Malcolm's stance as a hockey pose right away. It appeared so obvious to me.

The Sunday dinner getting cut short was disappointing, especially since I wanted to hear the back story about why Erin is so into Halloween. I did love the Wizard of Oz themed costumes they wore.

So was I the only one who felt the demon story fell a bit short? And are you willing to give the new detective a chance?

Revenge Sneak Peek: On the Front Porch …

... some pretty steamy stuff is about to go down on! Proceed at your own risk!

It looks like a certain couple takes their relationship to a new level Sunday.

After watching the start of Emily and Aiden's hot and highly-anticipated hookup above, one wonders what made her finally give in (besides the accent of course), and what events made this particular day so difficult.

"Rough day?" Aiden asks, checking on our beloved heroine after another Revenge-filled outing. "You keep asking me that," Emily responds when he asks if she's alright. "And you never give me an answer," Aiden says.

Looks like she finally has an answer of sorts.

Anyone else excited for tomorrow night? For more scenes from "Exposure," head on over to our Revenge clips page, then share your predictions and thoughts on Emily and Aiden in the comments below!
