‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Fans’ Sex Theory About the Show’s Newest Couple Will Disturb You: Read the Tweets! – Us Weekly

Step down. Greys Anatomy's Thursday, April 6, episodesuggested a potential romance between Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary) and Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams), which seemed cute at first until fans had the shocking realization that the two are in fact step-siblings. Also, let's not forget that plenty of fans will forever be on Team Japril, so Jackson and Maggie potentially taking things to a new level was troubling for a number of reasons.

Totally Wrong?

During Thursdays episode, Jackson helped Maggie cope with the loss of her mother by showing her photos the dying woman gave him. You and I are kind of like family, he said.

While the moment seemed touching and super flirty at first, fans were quick to point out that the two characters really are family, as Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.)is Maggie's biological father and Jackson's stepdad.

Japril Forever

Of course, it also goes without saying that many Grey's fans are diehard Japril supporters who were feeling quite optimistic when Jackson and ex April Kepner (Sarah Drew) finally reconnected at a hotel a few episodes ago. The pair have had their relationship tested multiple times and now have a young child together, so plenty of fans want the couple to finally figure things out.

See what fans had to say on Twitter about the unconventional connection from Thursdays episode.

Grey’s Anatomy: We Need to Talk About Jaggie – TV Guide

Now PlayingGrey's Anatomy 7 Worst Couples/Hookups, Ranked

Ever since Season 1 of Grey's Anatomy, fans have joked about the "incestuous" relationships among the show's doctors. Despite being close enough to their colleagues to consider them family, the doctors and residents at Grey Sloan (nee Seattle Grace) often found themselves falling into bed together. Like, really often.

But as the show prepares to enter its 14th season, the term "incest" may no longer be such a misnomer -- and some fans aren't having it.

We're talking, of course, about the budding romance between step-siblings Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary) and Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams), a pairing that seemed to emerge out of nowhere when none other than Jackson's ex-wife April (Sarah Drew) told Maggie it was clear Jackson had feelings for her in the Season 13 finale.

Well, OK, maybe the spark didn't come out of nowhere. Maggie did turn to Jackson for support after her mother died in Season 13 -- even though he had kept Mrs. Pierce's condition a secret from Maggie while he was treating her. After that, they certainly seemed to grow closer at the hospital. But April's observation still came a little out of left field.

Grey's Anatomy Mega Buzz: Are Maggie and Jackson Actually a Thing?

After her failed romance with DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) and unrequited crush on Riggs (Martin Henderson), it sounds like Maggie is just eenie-meenie-miney-mo'ing her way around the men at her workplace, without much success. Would it kill her (or any of the other doctors, for that matter) to maybe try an online dating service for once?

And a Maggie-Jackson romance provides yet another very convenient roadblock to keep Jackson and April -- a popular couple shipped by many fans who share a child, have their own hashtag (#Japril) and had an entire episode devoted to themselves last season -- apart for at least the better part of another year.

Also, and I believe I mentioned this earlier: the two are step-siblings. Maggie's father Richard (James Pickens Jr.) is married to Jackson's mother Catherine (Debbie Allen). What is this, Game of Thrones?

Whether Maggie and Jackson will actually take the plunge remains to be seen, but fans seem to be pretty divided about the potential pairing.

This week, Williams himself noted that fans seem to be "evenly divided" over the issue, but seemed to maybe indicate that he's not on board with it, retweeting a fan-made anti-Jaggie meme with the simple observation, "Very good."

Look, don't get me wrong: ever since Maggie's character was introduced at the end of Season 10, she's been one of the more interesting and likable characters on the show -- but has suffered nothing but heartache. The closest we've seen her come to having a relationship was her short-lived dalliances with DeLuca and her mostly offscreen stint with the radiologist Ethan. It would be great to see Maggie in a long-term, fulfilling relationship, the likes of which we've seen almost all of the other Grey's characters involved in. Not only is it about time for Maggie to have something good happen to her, giving her a significant other would also provide a wealth of potential drama for a character who longs for a partner -- despite having made her studies and career a priority for her whole life (and who we know has deemed herself incapable of sleeping next to other people).

But a Maggie-Jackson pairing seems like merely a plot device, an arbitrary pairing-off that makes Maggie little more than a pawn in the larger #Japril storyline. There's no denying that there is chemistry between Williams and McCreary; but up until this point it's seemed to be more of the brother/sister variety because, well, that's what they are. Plus, with so many fans already voicing their disdain for the romance before it's even officially happened, it will be a difficult task for the writers and actors to develop the two characters into a couple worth rooting for. And the alternative -- turning viewers against one or both of the mostly beloved characters -- is almost worse. It would be a better idea to put the idea of Jaggie to bed rather than in one.

Also, ew.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Fans ‘Rebuke’ That Jackson, Maggie, April Twist … – Moviefone

Here we were, worried about Dr. Stephanie Edwards (Jerrika Hinton), when it was Japril that Shonda Rhimes tried to kill off in the "Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 finale.

There were plenty of surprises in the finale, including some actual good news to go along with the bittersweet. And then there were those record scratch scenes between April Kepner (Sarah Drew), Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary), and Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams), including April telling Maggie she can tell that Maggie likes Jackson (!) and she can also tell that Jackson likes Maggie too (!!) ending with the suggestion that Maggie tell Jackson how she feels (!!!).

Didn't Japril make up during #JaprilTheSequel? And didn't Maggie just have a huge crush on Nathan Riggs (Martin Henderson), like, five minutes ago?

Some fans have been anticipating/dreading a Maggie/Jackson pairing since Maggie's mom suggested she let loose and make a mistake, and that episode was followed by some borderline intimate moments with Jackson. But others thought, nah, they wouldn't do that, it's just step-family members supporting each other.

There are some fans out there who support a Maggie/Jackson pairing, in part because they don't like April and would like to see Jackson with someone else. But several more viewers, at least the ones who tweet, are solidly and vocally against the idea.

Here's a taste of the reactions to Japril + Maggie:

Clearly, this is what Shonda and company wanted -- to get fans talking about speculating in the summer before Season 14. It's possible Jackson will be conflicted, or know he wants to be with April (aka the mother of his child) and this will be another short love triangle for Maggie. It would be nice if she could have her own romance without third-party complications, but that's not "Grey's" style.

"Grey's Anatomy" Season 14 will premiere this fall on ABC.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Fans Aren’t Happy About That Shocking Sex Scene: Here’s Why – Us Weekly

Do not disturb! One of this season's most memorable Grey's Anatomy moments has undoubtedly been Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) and April Kepner (Sarah Drew) getting frisky in a hotel hallway during the Thursday, March 16, episode. But the surprise hookup was not exactly a happy turn of events for all fans. Relive the steamy scene our video recap above!

Slowly Reconnecting

The ABC medical drama dropped hints throughout that episode that Jackson and April were going to get back together during their trip to Montana. Indeed, the couple were shown FaceTiming their daughter and collaborating to plan a surgery, with the procedure proving to be a success in more ways than one.

The surgeons accomplished a tough operation that had never been done before on a young girl with a throat tumor. Even though they have been constantly bickering in recent episodes, they actually came together to save a life. We did it, Jackson told his ex after they teamed up to perform a risky operation on a young girl with a throat tumor.

The Hotel Heats Up

Following surgery, the two were about to part ways to rest in their separate hotel rooms. However, the small talk they exchanged in the hallway suggested they had another activity in mind for the evening.

Im just thinking about our track record in hotel rooms, Jackson said as he approached his former wife. They started making out right there in the hallway, and Jackson didnt waste time before carrying April back to his hotel room. The next morning, the two were cuddling on the hotel bed sans clothes.

Sure, plenty of Greys fans were delighted by the twist, but others remain convinced that the reunion was a total mistake and that this won't end well, given the pair's rocky history. (The two doctors did not interact in the March 23 episode.)

Check out the tweets below about the controversial rendezvous.
