The 10th World Hellenic Biomedical Congress organized by the World Hellenic Biomedical Association in collaboration with SGUL Medical School at the University of Nicosia, the Cyprus Medical Association and the Institute of Neurology and Genetics, Cyprus took place on November 22-25, 2012 at the premises of the University of Nicosia. The opening ceremony of the conference took place at the Medical School library. Professor Kyriacos Athanasiou from the University of California at Davis delivered the keynote lecture titled #39;Trail-blazing a commercialization pathway in academia: From paper-napkin designs to saving lives #39;. Peter McGovern MD is the medical director of University Reproductive Associates (URA) as well as an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Womens Health and Division Director of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at UMDNJ - New Jersey Medical School. Dr. McGovern has been in private practice since 1992 and is a board certified physician in both obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility. After attending medical school at New York University School of Medicine, he completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at NYU-Bellevue Medical Center. He subsequently completed his fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at UMDNJ - New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey. Dr Aimee Seungdamrong MD is a physician at University Reproductive Associates and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Womens Health at UMDNJ New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey. She is also a staff physician at Hackensack University Medical Center. Dr. Seungdamrong is a board certified physician in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Dr. Seungdamrong was educated at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, graduating with honors in chemistry. She attended medical school at the University of Texas - Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas where she did research on gamete in-vitro maturation. She completed a residency at Parkland Memorial Health and Hospital System, the largest obstetrics and gynecology residency program in the United States, and subsequently completed a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at UMDNJ New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ. Dr. Seungdamrongs areas of interest include in-vitro fertilization, fertility preservation, pre-implantation genetic diagnosis, and minimally invasive surgery. She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and has published articles and book chapters on in-vitro fertilization, menopause, and the role of the uterus in the management of infertility.
