Carmelo Anthony Has No Plans of Trying to Make History with LeBron James – Yardbarker

Playing in the NBA is one of the hardest yet most rewarding life accomplishments you can ever achieve. To be apart of the basketball family and do something you love for the rest of your life is something free agent forward and former Laker Carmelo Anthony has been blessed to do.

Along with this achievement, Anthony has been able to enjoy a 19-year career in a league where players on average just get to enjoy 3-5 seasons. Interestingly enough, Anthony also was in the same draft class as his former Laker teammate LeBron James, who is entering his 20th season.

Their careers have remained intertwined since as Anthony was picked just two picks after James (third overall) in the 2003 draft, but James has publicly come out and said he wants to be in the league until his son, Bronny James, makes it into the league.

Any father's dream, but something that has never been done before. It seems possible for James who has been playing at such a high level, but Anthony does not have the same aspirations as his draft class counterpart (quotes via Cassidy Hubbarth, ESPN NBA).

"No, I do not (have the same goals). I think it will be time for me to pass him the torch so I'd rather just pass him the torch when that time comes."

Idris Elba Breaks Silence on Thor: Love and Thunder Valhalla Post-Credits Surprise – The Direct

Idris Elba's Heimdall long proved to be a staple of theThorfranchise as he served as the gatekeeper of Asgard, guardian of the Bifrost, and the best friend of Chris Hemsworth's hero. But that all came to an end withAvengers: Infinity Waras Heimdall was killed by Thanos after he sent Hulk to Earth to warn the Avengers of the imminent threat.

So, it was to the surprise of most moviegoers when Heimdall appeared in Thor: Love and Thunder's post-credits scene to greet Jane Foster on her entrance to Valhalla. The shocking cameo followed the introduction of Heimdall's son, Axl, who led the children of Asgard after they were taken by Gorr the God Butcher.

Now, Elba has addressed the shocking scene and touched on what it could mean for his future in the MCU.

During a recent interview with Collider, Heimdall actor Idris Elba addressed Thor: Love and Thunder'spost-credit scene that saw Natalie Portman's Jane Foster greeted by the Asgardian warrior at the gates of Valhalla after succumbing to her cancer.

Elba explained that most of Heimdall's"arsenal of gifts have been tapped into one way or another" throughout the MCU, but he also has an "an immortality around him" that hasn't been touched on yet but could be in the future:

Pretty much his whole sort of like arsenal of gifts have been tapped into one way or another. Hes all-seeing, you know. But hes quite a warrior. Weve seen him as a warrior as well, and he has an immortality around him and that would be something that we havent really explored so that I think may be interesting. Hey, listen, you know, the Marvel world is ever-expanding. You just never know.

After assisting Thor in his final battle with Gorr, Jane Foster succumbed to her battle withcancer in the third act ofThor: Love and Thunder, leading her to arrive in Valhalla in the post-credit scene. Foster suffered a similar fate in the comics but ultimately got a second chance at human life as she came back as a Valkyrie and wieldedUndrjarn, the All-Weapon.

With Jane Foster and Heimdall now living it up in Valhalla, both characters are certainly dead, but that doesn't mean they won't be seen again. After Foster lost her life in the comics that inspiredLove and Thunder, she still managed to be resurrected and become Valkyrie, something the MCU may adapt in the coming years.

Elba's Heimdall likely won't receive the same treatment, unfortunately, but that doesn't mean he won't be seen again in Valhalla. Perhaps he may appear alongside Foster in the afterlife before her resurrection if that is indeed the direction the MCU is heading toward.

But with Elba teasing the immortality of Heimdall, maybe his death won't truly prove to be permanent, opening the doors to more future appearances. Then again, Heimdall's son Axl has now been introduced and even has access to many of his father's powers, so it's tough to imagine much of a purpose for Elba's Asgardian going forward.

But with no immediate return in sight for Thor or Jane Foster, the wait may be long before any of the MCU's Asgardian crew show up again, dead or alive. Only time will tell whetherThor 5ever comes into existence, but if one thing's for certain, fans haven't seen the last of Chris Hemsworth in the MCU.

No matter what, Elba clearly has a bright future ahead of him in the comic book genre, whether that's at Marvel or DC. The British actor recently starred as Bloodsport in James Gunn'sThe Suicide Squadand will be back soon, read all about Elba's next "big" superhero project at DC here.

Thor: Love and Thunderis playing now in theaters worldwide.

O’Neill Rolls Out Trio of 2-Year Old Fillies for G2 Sorrento – Past The Wire

DEL MAR, Calif. While winning the Sorrento Stakes is not a guarantee of racing immortality, its certainly a nice jump-off point for future stars of the sport. The six-furlong sprint for 2-year-old fillies has been won by such gems as Brave Raj, Lite Light, Silverbulletday, Chilukki and Bellafina. Last years edition was won by Elm Drive.

The 54thrunning of Saturdays G2 Sorrento Stakes has a field of seven, three of whom come from the Doug ONeill barn. He rolls out Vegas Magic, Satin Doll, and Absolute Zero, all undefeated so far in their young careers.

Aldabbagh, Cady or Leathermans Vegas Magic broke her maiden at Santa Anita in June and then ventured up to Pleasanton and won the Everett Nevin Stakes by a nose over Fumanos Girl, who came back last week and ran sixth in the CTBA Stakes at Del Mar.

Shes shown she can win up near the pace and way off the pace, ONeill says. Im just excited and optimistic for a big effort.

ONeill also saddles Absolutely Zero, who was the likely favorite in last weekends CTBA Stakes before she was scratched in favor of running in the Sorrento.

As a team we just huddle up and look for when shes best ready and the best opportunity, ONeill said. I think another week did her good and its a $200,000 Grade 2. I think thats a great opportunity for her to get graded placed and a graded win.

Absolutely Zero defeated the boys in the Fasig Tipton Futurity at Santa Anita in June. The daughter of Nyquist has some heavy hitters in her corner. Shes owned and bred by Paul Reddam of Reddam Racing, shes trained by ONeill and shell be ridden by two-time Kentucky Derby winner Mario Gutierrez. Shes undefeated after two races and was the favorite in both of her races.

ONeill also has The Del Mar Groups Satin Doll, who won a maiden special race at first asking on opening weekend at Del Mar. Shell have a different rider this time around. Ramon Vasquez takes over for Kyle Frey.

That was unintentional, ONeill pointed out. I had told the rider (Frey) and his agent that we would wait until the Debutante to run her and then after her last work we switched it up and he had already committed. That was my bad.

Frey ends up on Rick or Sharon Wallers Dazzlingdominika, who broke her maiden last out at Churchill Downs. She comes out of the Phillip DAmato barn and is one of the ones in the field capable of giving the ONeill trio a good challenge.

Theres also Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners Procrastination, from the Michael McCarthy barn. She won by eight lengths at first asking at Los Alamitos.

Diamond 100 Racing Clubs Infinite Diamond finished second in her debut at Gulfstream Park, but according to assistant trainer Andie Biancone, shes the bullet in the barn.

The G2 Sorrento is the ninth race on Saturdays 10-race card. Heres the field from the rail with jockeys: Procrastination (Ricky Gonzalez); Vegas Magic (Abel Cedillo); Dazzlingdominika; Classymademoiselle (Tyler Baze); Satin Doll; Absolutely Zero and Infinite Diamond (Ryan Curatolo).

Notes:Jockey Tyler Baze is scheduled to appear before the stewards Friday after not showing up for work Thursday. He was taken off his remaining five mounts after he missed the first race and, according to Jay Privman of the Daily Racing Form, failed to call the stewards until the seventh raceTrainer Leonard Powell says his multiple-graded stakes winner Neige Blanche will return to defend her title in the CTT & TOC Stakes next Friday. The French-bred has won four-of-her-last-five races dating back to last falls G3 Red Carpet Handicap at Del MarFlightline is expected to put in his weekly work Saturday morning. Trainer John Sadler says he will have his undefeated colt out on the track around 6:30 AM. Flightline is being pointed to the G1 TVG Pacific Classic September 3Notable works for Friday: Dirt Forbidden Kingdom (3f, 36:40); High Connection (4f, 48.60); Express Train (5f, 1:01.40); Heywoods Beach (5f, 1:01.40); In all, 160 horses put in official works Friday.

Interview With the Vampire Series Team on Working With Intimacy Coordinators: Its Really Important – Yahoo! Voices

The team behind AMCs Interview With the Vampire series weighed in on the use of intimacy coordinators on set during a panel for the Television Critics Association summer press tour.

We worked with an intimacy coordinator quite extensively, series star Sam Reid said. I think its really important working with an intimacy coordinator. I havent not worked with an intimacy coordinator for a number of years. I think it treats those scenes more like a stunt scene or a fight scene, so theyre choreographed as well as trying to keep some spontaneity in it. It was kind of fun doing it in that way. We got to rehearse it and know exactly what was going to happen.

More from Variety

The question arose over the fact the Lestat, played by Reid, and Louis de Pointe, played by Jacob Anderson, become involved physically early on in the series, requiring Reid and Anderson to film sex scenes together.

It gives everybody the right to ask any questions they want any time, which can sometimes be difficult in a hierarchical crew, added director and executive producer Alan Taylor. With a coordinator there, its like everything is on the table.

The use of intimacy coordinators on sets has been in the news in recent days after Game of Thrones alum Sean Bean criticized the practice. Since then, actors like Lena Hall and Amanda Seyfried have spoken out in favor, with Seyfried saying she felt unable to voice her discomfort on sets when she was younger.

Interview With the Vampire is based on the Anne Rice book of the same name and follows Louis de Pointe, Lestat De Lioncourt and Claudias epic story of love, blood and the perils of immortality. Bailey Bass stars as Claudia.

Story continues

Rolin Jones created the series and serves as showrunner. Interview with the Vampire is executive produced by Mark Johnson, Christopher Rice, and the late Anne Rice. Taylor is directing the first two episodes and also executive produces. AMC Studios will produce.

Interview with the Vampire is one of two shows AMC is currently working on based on Rices works after acquiring the rights to The Vampire Chronicles and The Lives of the Mayfair Witches novels in 2020. Johnson is overseeing the creation of a television universe based on the books via his overall deal with AMC Studios.

Interview With the Vampire debuts on AMC on Oct. 2

Is this the time that Randy Gradishars long Hall of Fame wait finally ends? – 104.3 The Fan

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. This time, Randy Gradishar thinks things might be different for his Pro Football Hall of Fame candidacy.

A modern-era finalist in 2008, Gradishars wait for the ultimate football honor has continued for the past 13 years. The Hall even bypassed him for its special Centennial Class of 2020, when it inducted 10 seniors candidates.

But that didnt ease the backlog much. And that is why for the next three years up to three seniors per class will be inducted.

Gradishar is one of a dozen finalists. From that group, ithree seniors will be nominated for 2023 induction by the Pro Football Hall of Fames seniors committee.

And being one of the senior nominees typically means induction. Since 2010, 18 of 19 senior nominees not including the 2020 Centennial Class sailed to induction by the wider selection committee.

This is the first year in a long time that Ive felt theres a real possibility of getting into the Hall of Fame, Gradishar said after watching the Broncos final 2022 training-camp practice Thursday.

Why now?

Just an internal feeling, he said. You go through it I think its been 30-some years and it kind of wears off after a while.

I looked at some of those names, and some of those names, I can remember. So, itll be exciting to see how its all going to turn out.

The other finalists are Ken Anderson, Maxie Baughan, Chuck Howley, Cecil Isbell, Joe Klecko, Bob Kuechenberg, Eddie Meadow, Tommy Nobis, Ken Riley, Sterling Sharpe and Everson Walls.

Among the 12 finalists, only Gradishar, Isbell and Nobis were also finalists for the 2020 Centennial Class. This could prove significant, since the two subsequent senior nominees Drew Pearson (2021) and Cliff Branch (2022) were also among the finalists who did not get the call in 2020.

Logically, Gradishar, Isbell and Nobis could be considered the first in line.

But the Orange Crush stalwart isnt worried about it.

I believe its all in Gods timing, he said. Whether I get in or dont get in is not going to change my life. Those honors come as an honor. So,, I just kind of keep waiting and depend on people to see what my statistics are for when I played. Ive heard what I call a lot of excuses over the years. Thats my own personal feeling about that.

When I look at my statistics compared to the statistics of guys that are already in there, mine are little bit better.

The prodigious tackle total of 2,049 jumps out. But tackles were and still are not an unofficial statistic.

However, when going by official metrics, Gradishar is one of 10 linebackers in NFL history with at least 20 interceptions, 10 fumble recoveries and seven Pro Bowl appearances.

The others are Chuck Bednarik, Dick Butkus, Jack Ham, Ted Hendricks, Jack Lambert, Willie Lanier, Ray Lewis, Joe Schmidt and Brian Urlacher. Not only are all of them Hall of Famers but none of them had to wait more than nine years after retirement for induction.

Gradishars wait will hit 39 years on Christmas Eve.

Statistics say something. A 12-2 record (in 1977) says something, Gradishar said. I dont know what else to call them besides excuses, but we beat the Steel Curtain in our first divisional playoff game back in 1977.

Of course, the Broncos didnt win the Super Bowl that year. But they claimed the AFC with playoff wins over Pittsburgh and the Raiders. Those clubs won six of seven world championships from 1974-80. Only a turnover-strewn day by the Broncos offense in Super Bowl XII prevented them from a Lombardi Trophy of their own.

Winning that day probably would have changed Gradishars Hall-of-Fame arc. That said, he and the defense did its part in the 27-10 loss. Gradishar had eight total tackles and broke up a pass. Further, the Orange Crush defense sacked Roger Staubach five times, broke up nine passes and forced four fumbles. (Dallas also fumbled twice on special teams.)

But that all part of the cruel calculus.

Gradishars Broncos lost their lone Super Bowl appearance. Harry Carsons Giants won theirs. And in a bit of dramatic irony, Carsons win came at the expense of the Broncos in Super Bowl XXI.

No one would say that Carson does not deserve the honor he received in 2006. But the only major differences are career length Carson played 13 seasons, Gradishar 10 and the fact that Carsons Giants got an all-time performance from Phil Simms in the Super Bowl. Meanwhile, nine years earlier, Dallas Doomsday Defense poured through Denvers pass protection, battered the already-hurting Craig Morton, and that was that.

Gradishar made the Pro Bowl in 70 percent of his seasons seven of 10. Carson made it 69 percent of the time nine of 13 years. Both were two-time first-team All-Pros. Both were stalwart 3-4 inside linebackers.

People keep telling me, If you played anywhere on the East Coast, youd have already been in, Gradishar said.

He regards that as an excuse.

It is. A flimsy one at that.

But perhaps the excuses are now about to be replaced by a gold jacket, a bronze bust and the immortality the heart of the Orange Crush deserves.
