After Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) slept with Tom Koracick (Greg Germann) on her and Owen Hunts wedding day, which was overheard by a whole surgery team via Owens voicemail, Teddy admitted to Owen that she had been in love with her friend Allison, their daughters namesake. Teddy told Owen she knew that fact is related to what happened with Tom, but she wasnt sure how. Owen laughed cruelly at Teddy and said he never knew her at all. We named our daughter after a lie.

As for Koracick, Teddy didn't sound like she was ready to let him go, as she sat at his bedside after his COVID took a bad turn. At the very least she wanted to salvage their friendship, saying there was a ray of hope for them. He woke up and the two shared a strange, flirty exchange, with Tom suggesting a sponge bath, but, you know, as friends. With Owens firm rejection of Teddy in the winter finale, I'm not shutting the door on Tom and Teddy just yet.

Lets start things off at the moment by getting down to the cold, hard facts: There is no new episode tonight on the network. If you havent heard, the return of season 17 was pushed back until we get to March 11, and we feel like well have more news to share over the next few weeks on the subject.

So what can you expect to see within a new promo for thats next? We think this is an interesting thing to ponder over right now, given what happened with Meredith at the end of the first part of the season. We saw Ellen Pompeos character end up on a ventilator recently, and that is something that we figure to be a big part of the shows return. Any promo for what lies ahead should very well include some footage of her on the beach, potentially talking with either some current or former series regulars.

Beyond just that, were sure that a promo for what lies ahead will emphasize what is going on now with Teddy and Owen, which makes a certain degree of sense given the tumultuous state of their relationship at the moment. Meanwhile, whats going on with Maggie and Winston next? Theres been a TON of passion there, but we cant just sit back and forget that they really dont know each other all that well. Their relationship is still new and more problems could surface.

Loyal fans of the prime-time medical drama Greys Anatomy were rewarded for their patience when the 17th season premiered on Thursday, Nov. 12. The anxiously awaited return of the longest-running prime-time medical drama in America was well received by its audience with 5.7 million total views. The unexpected hiatus between seasons 16 and 17 left fans hanging with no real finale. The shows production was abruptly stopped with 4 episodes to finish the 16th season last March, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In an effort to protect the staff and actors of the show, the decision was made to discontinue filming, making Greys the first prime-time show to do so.

The emotional two-hour special focused on how Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital was handling the arrival of COVID-19. The timeline was pushed back to the beginning of the pandemic, before the public knew the details it does now. It gave the viewers an idea of how the medical community was dealing with the influx of critically ill patients and the emotional toll it took on the medical staff. Granted, this is still televised drama, but this popular ABC series has been known to incorporate sticky issues in their storylines such as domestic abuse, transgender rights and drug addiction. Bringing COVID-19 to the forefront of the new season seemed appropriate and timely.

The premiere starts with the Chief of Grey-Sloan Memorial, Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) explaining to Dr. Richard Weber (James Pickens Jr.) the new protocols the hospital needs to follow, due to the pandemic.

They did an excellent job of showing the harsh reality of what goes on behind the scenes of hospitals and the mental toll it takes on healthcare workers. Although there are some lighthearted and funny moments, they never let the audience forget the seriousness and extremity behind what is going on in the world right now. The writers continuously touch upon the rising death toll, while also highlighting a new perspective: how much doctors are giving up in order to help others. Not only are they sacrificing their health and safety, but many are being separated from their families, due to their exposure to the virus. The average viewer does not understand this reality unless dealing with it personally. Those watching get a powerful dose of emotion that comes in response to how doctors are coping with the stress, separation and hard work.

After almost two decades, this season premiere topped the charts for the most eye-opening and captivating of them all. Krista Vernoff, the showrunner for Greys Anatomy, felt like the show had an obligation to tell the stories of frontline medical workers during this national crisis. This pandemic is breaking people, its breaking doctors, and we have an opportunity to help drive home the costs to the medical community, said Vernoff during an interview with EW.

Not only was the crisis fitting for the entire country, but specifically for the setting of the show, Seattle. This city was one of the first hit and had to cope with the crisis early on. Lockdowns and deaths were real and evident, making the storyline even more legitimate.

On set, protocols had to be adjusted for the actors to return to filming. Alternative camera lenses are used to give the appearance the characters are closer together than they actually are. Intimate scenes are conducted without kissing and the set has asked actors to stay in designated pods during production, even the staff works in shifts. Zones are tested differently based on their amount of exposure: red zone, three times a week. Yellow and green zones, once a week. Its a precaution that allows for constant transparency on set, but also, you know, the minimal amount of times a swab has to be stuck up your nose, as reported in Esquire.

Ellen Pompeo, who plays Dr. Meredith Grey, told People magazine in an interview, that she was dedicating Season 17 to "all who have fallen and to everyone of you who by the grace of God is still standing," adding, "This season is for you with humility and a bit of humor to get us through and endless amounts of gratitude. I hope we do you proud." She may not be a doctor, but she plays one on TV. The viewers who have enjoyed the shows particular brand of medical drama would like to thank those who are bringing us our weekly fix of Greys Anatomy. Although there is a lull between Nov. 19 and Jan. 9, we will patiently await the return of our favorite medical drama, it was sorely missed!

There are rumors saying this is Greys Anatomys final season, and if it is, it will certainly go out with a bang. It will go out standing up for the medical community, which it has successfully has done for decades. People need to be informed about the seriousness of this crisis, and Greys Anatomy cast and staff can walk away with their heads held high, knowing they have fulfilled their duty.

'Grey's Anatomy' dedicates season 17 to healthcare workers during COVID-19 - Daily Cardinal

Grey's Anatomy Season 17 will feature a new character at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Mackenzie Marsh was cast in a new recurring role in the long-running ABC medical drama. The series returns on Thursday, Nov. 12 on ABC at 9 p.m. ET, following the season premiere of Station 19. Both shows will touch on the coronavirus pandemic in the crossover premiere.

Marsh will play Val Ashton, an intelligent and fun-loving character who works in publishing and is extremely lonely, reports Deadline. Marsh recently starred on Charmed, Will & Grace, American Housewife, and The Following. She also starred in the movies Just Before I Go and Pee-wee's Big Holiday. According to Marsh's IMDb page, she will star in at least the first two episodes of Grey's Anatomy Season 17, "All Tomorrow's Parties" and "The Center Won't Hold."

The casting news came a few days after star Ellen Pompeo told Variety she might be preparing to end her legendary run as Dr. Meredith Grey on the show. Pompeo said it "could very well be" her last year since Season 17 is the last year of her contract. When it comes to the show itself though, Pompeo said she is not certain how long it could run. The series is already the longest-running American primetime medical drama ever and is still among the top-rated shows in the 18-49 demographic.

"We dont we dont know when the show is really ending yet. But the truth is, this year could be it. And so everything is really important to me that the show is good, and that all the characters storylines are good. Even though its not my place necessarily to fight for other peoples characters, I care very much about the integrity of the show, and the stories that we tell, and the quality," Pompeo told Variety. She later said she is "constantly" calling executive producers Krista Vernoff, Debbie Allen and Shonda Rhimes about the direction of her character.

Vernoff, who serves as showrunner, previously told Variety last month she was concerned about how Grey's should handle the pandemic. She thought people might not want to see a fictional show about it, but her writers convinced her otherwise. Co-executive producer Lynne E. Litt said the pandemic was the "biggest medical story of our lifetimes" and pitched an idea. Naser Alazari, a doctor who spent the show's hiatus working in a clinic, also told Vernoff it was important for the most popular medical drama in the world to handle the crisis. "'This is the biggest medical story of our lifetime, and it is changing medicine permanently. And we have to tell this story,'" Alazari told her, Vernoff recalled.

Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Grey's Anatomy will return for a 17th season in November.

ABC announced a premiere date, Nov. 12, for Season 17 in a press release Thursday.

The two-hour season premiere will air Nov. 12 at 9 p.m. EDT. Season 4 of the Grey's Anatomy spinoff Station 19 will premiere the same night at 8 p.m.

ABC shared a moving poster for Grey's Anatomy Season 17 on Twitter featuring Ellen Pompeo as her character. Dr. Meredith Grey.

"Sometimes... we all need saving," the tagline reads.

The network also released a teaser for the season featuring Dr. Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) and Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd).

ABC also announced premiere dates for other fall shows. The Good Doctor Season 4 premieres Nov. 2 at 10 p.m. EDT, while David E. Kelley's new series Big Sky will make its debut Nov. 17 at 10:01 p.m.

"Our fall schedule is now complete with a dynamic lineup of new and returning drama series," ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke said. "From fan-favorite shows like Grey's Anatomy and The Good Doctor to David E. Kelley's thrilling new drama Big Sky, our strength is in our storytelling, and we could not be more energized to bring these compelling series to our viewers."

Like other shows, plans have had to change and not just when it comes to a premiere date forGrey's Anatomy's 17th season.

"We are not working to protect stories we had [planned] for the end of Season 16," showrunner Krista Vernoff revealed toTVLine. "That said, you will get to see some of the immediate moments from where we left off." In fact, some of what we'll see was filmed prior to the shutdown, she added, and "we found a way to build it into our premiere."

Season 16 ended four episodes early (after production shut down in March due to the coronavirus pandemic), and the new season is set to pick up about a month and a half into the pandemic, according to Giacomo Gianniotti (who plays Dr. Andrew DeLuca). As the ABC medical drama incorporates real life into its fictional world, it won't forget about the loose endsafter "Put on a Happy Face."

That means that while the hospital's staff will be "navigating Covid," which Vernoff described as "a whole new world" for everyone, we'll likely see those scenes she mentioned in the premiere as part of the flashbacks Gianniotti had teased we could see.

Grey's Anatomy could begin filming Season 17 as early as this week. While ABC had included it in its initial fall schedule, it was not part of its premiere dates announcement in August.
