Grey’s Anatomy Star Camilla Luddington on The Vampire Diaries? It Almost Happened! – TV Fanatic

Grey's Anatomy actress Camilla Luddington came close to playing a pivotal role on The Vampire Diaries, and it would have stopped her from playing Jo Wilson.

Luddington took to Twitter over the weekend to reveal characters she had auditioned for in the past, and one of them was Rebekah Mikaelson on The Vampire Diaries.

Claire Holt ultimately landed the role and also went on to star in New Orleans-set spinoff The Originals.

"Was reminiscing with my husband about some roles we auditioned for (over a decade ago) and didn't get," Luddington tweeted. "I was thinking it might be fun to share just a couple ha!!!!

"I auditioned for (and Obvs didn't get but thought it would be so fun to play) Rebekah on #TheVampireDiaries."

Fans were shocked, with one suggesting that Luddington wouldn't have been cast in Grey's Anatomy had she been successful in auditioning for Vampire Diaries, prompting the star to reply:

"I would not being playing Jo, that's exactly right!"

Luddington also auditioned for the parts of Alex Dupre on One Tree Hill, as well as Alex on Nikita.

Jana Kramer ultimately snagged the role of Alex, while Lyndsy Fonseca played Alex.

"I auditioned and realllllly wanted Alex in #Nikita but the wonderful Lyndsy Fonseca killed it in that role," she said.

Luddington joined the cast Grey's Anatomy in 2012, and was promoted to series regular for the next season.

Jo blossomed into one of the best characters on Grey's Anatomy, and it seems the character will continue to develop well into next year.

The series has been renewed for Season 17, but there's a lot of material for Jo to work with. She's still trying to come to terms with the fact that her husband left her -- for his ex.

If you watch Grey's Anatomy online, you know Jo claimed she was ready to move on, but there will likely be some changes for her when the next season gets underway.

What are your thoughts on this bombshell?

Grey’s Anatomy Round Table: Should Owen and Amelia Just End It? – TV Fanatic

OnGrey's Anatomy Season 13 Episode 12the tension between Eliza and Bailey and the rest of the attendingscould be cut with a knife. Upon Catherine's return to GSM, Bailey made her boldest move yet and suspendedMeredith.

The rumors and gossip were flying as the others tried to figure out why Andrew dropped the charges against Alex. And Maggie's mother stopped by for a visit, only to receive devastating news.

Below, TV Fanatics Tiffany and Jasmine as they discuss Catherine's return to GSM, the Jo/Alex/Andrew love triangle... and much more!

Andrew dropped the charges against Alex. Are you pleased with how they resolved this, or do you feel like it was weak?

Tiffany: I'm not very happy with it. The show built up the case for so long then we barely saw anything leading to DeLuca's change of heart. Yeah, we know he has feelings for Jo and we now know Warren put the ball in motion for him to drop the charges, but to have him rush in like that felt cheap.

Jasmine: I have mixed feelings on the issue. In fact, based on how they resolved it, I'm annoyed that they ever bothered to make this a story line to begin with. They did spend a lot of time building it up, only to have it written off so easily.

It's like they wrote themselves into a corner and then didn't know how to write themselves out of it.

It's been brewing for some time now, but it appears as if they really are heading into an Alex/Jo/Andrew love triangle. How do you feel about it?

Tiffany: I feel like there's a natural way the show can do it if they don't force a love triangle.

I can see Alex pushing Jo towards DeLuca because she deserves better and DeLuca's the better guy and I can even see Jo trying to make things work with DeLuca because girls always try to make it work with the good guy. But ultimately, Jo loves Alex and that's who she'll end up with.

Jasmine: I think it's forced, and I want no parts of it. I'd rather see more of Andrew developing as a character on his own before they toss him into the fray with Jo. I can see what Tiffany's saying, happening on the show, but that's not even fair to DeLuca.

He already got raw deal being dragged into Jolex drama. I'd rather see him back with Maggie.

Everyone at GSM fell in love with Diane Pierce. Did you? How did you feel about her finding out she has breast cancer and not telling Maggie after Maggie's outburst?

Tiffany: I liked her but I had completely forgotten she left Maggie's father and in Maggie's opinion, blew up their family life. I get what she was saying about being happy for the first time & not apologizing for it, but you still have to be respectful of your children and their feelings.

Of course, it's incredibly sad that she has breast cancer. I hope she tells Maggie before it's too late for them to make up and say good bye. I can't imagine it'll be easy for Jackson to keep that secret and, though he's bound by doctor/patient confidentiality, my guess is he'll tell Maggie eventually.

Jasmine: I really liked her. She was such a fun person. It's had to believe that she and Maggie are related because Maggie is so awkward and neurotic and her mother is so easygoing. I agree with Tiffany.

I know a lot of people tend to be hard on Maggie, but she's trying to adjust to the news of her parents' divorce, and she had to get that out.

I'm so upset that she found out she had breast cancer. Can any family member appear without being sick or bringing loads of drama? Sheesh! I don't think Jackson will tell Maggie about her mother. He can't. Which means he'll be in a really awkward position.

I get why Diane didn't tell Maggie after her outburst, but I'm sad that she didn't.

Not only did Bailey suspend Meredith, but she replaced her with April. React.

Tiffany: Bailey, Bailey, Bailey... all I can say is, WTF? I understand she's pissed the attendings aren't "falling in line" but why shouldn't they have a say in what goes on in their OR's, with their patients?

It's their careers on the line after all. Initially, I think Bailey was trying to do what she thought was in the best interests of everyone, but now I just think her pride is hurt and she's on a power trip.

Even Dr. Minnick told her to stop interfering this week. As for April, she's officially Bailey's puppet, and I hope she's ready for the hate the attendings are going to unleash on her.

Jasmine: Meredith's reaction was priceless. She's so cool, calm, and collected. She just went home like it was no big deal. I loved her exchange with Alex. And then when she found out Kepnerreplaced her; she said her name like it was diseased. Haha! I love Bailey, but she is not coming across likable with this situation.

The razor-wire case inspired Owen to try to reason with Amelia. Do you think she'll finally talk to him after that?

Tiffany: I don't know what to think about that relationship. I'm not even sure why she left anymore. Was it shame over the child she lost? Guilt over not being pregnant after trying ONCE? Or that she doesn't want kids anymore? She was so on board with having kids, how could she change her mind so drastically and quickly?

I don't think they have enough of a foundation to keep going after this. They were off and on for so long then married for like two seconds before Amelia took off. Unfortunately, I think Owen should move on. He deserves to be happy, and I Just don't think Amelia is the person for him.

Jasmine: This Omelia situation is confusing to me. I get that they had to find a way to accommodatethe actress being pregnant, but this tension between them is too much. Many of us distinctly remember Amelia telling Owen about having a baby that died before, but now they're acting like that never happened.

I guess the issue now is that she's scared to have another baby again, or she doesn't want to have a baby, and she's scared to tell him that. I don't even know. It seems childish on her part, and I'm as confused as Owen is.

Do I like Omelia as a couple? Yes. Do I like them individually? Yes. But if Amelia continues with this, then I just need them to end it. We've been through watching Owen in a marriage that didn't work out, and I don't understand why this man can't find a compatible woman to make him happy.

His expectations are so low and yet he finds these amazing women who can't quite meet them.

Eliza seems to be wearing down, and now she's insistent on pursuing Arizona. Do you like this potential ship?

Tiffany: I thought it had potential early on when they were subtly hinting at it. But the conversation last week felt so forced and out of the blue. Plus, does anyone think Arizona's standing up to Minnick because she's scared of falling in love with her? I mean, really?

Jasmine: I agree. I was indifferent to the ship at first, but it had potential. Now it just feels ridiculous and forced. I don't see Arizona catching feelings for the woman who treats most of her friends, including Richard, like crap.

And I hate the idea of Arizona being paired up with the first lesbian/bi woman that shows up, just because they both like girls.

Catherine and Richard might finally have a showdown. Are you annoyed that Catherine won't admit she's behind Eliza replacing Richard?

Tiffany: I'm basically annoyed with everything Catherine does. But especially now that she's turned someone I actually like (Bailey) into an annoying, power driven, unreasonable, Catherine clone. I love Richard and never wanted them to end up together.

Jasmine: Haha! Yeah, I can agree with Tiffany. I'm annoyed with all things Catherine at the moment. I love Debbie Allen, but Catherine can be a pain. I don't understand why she hasn't come right out with it.

And I almost fell over laughing at her reprimanding April for butting into her marriage, like she didn't and still doesn't do the exact same thing with Jackson and April.

Grey's Anatomy Promo: "It Only Gets Much Worse"

What's your favorite scene and/or quote from the episode?

Tiffany: I liked Jo going to the house to make sure Alex wasn't in prison. It reminded me of the bomb episode in season 2 when Derek stopped by just to see that Meredith was still alive. Both Jo and Derek heard the news from other people but had to see for themselves because they loved the person so much.

It's also similarly heartbreaking in that neither Derek nor Jo think they should be with that person. Grey's is great with little throwback moments like that.

Jasmine: I LOVED Mer, Maggie, and Alex sitting on the bed and sharing food. I love their little family that they have formed. I could watch an entire episode of just Alex and his "sisters" dealing with life and running a household. I also loved that it was classic Grey's.

Grey’s Anatomy Round Table: Team Richard or Team Eliza? – TV Fanatic

We finally got to see what happened to Alex onGrey's Anatomy Season 13 Episode 11. Well, sort of.

After a standalone premiere, we returned to the hospital where Richard, Jackson, and April staged a mutiny against Eliza Minnick. Jo, still dealing with the news that Alex took the deal, was distracted and having a rough time on her shift. Ben took it upon himself to look after her.

Meredith spent the entire episode in search of Alex, only to find out that he was home sleeping in her bed the entire time.

Below, TV Fanatics Amanda, Tiffany, and Jasmine as they break down "Jukebox Hero."

They discuss their theories on how Alex evaded prison, what's going on with Jo and whether or not Amelia is behaving immaturely. They'll also talk about the mutiny and grade the episode.

Join the discussion!

Thoughts on the Alex reveal? What are you theories about how he avoided prison?

Amanda: Were we supposed to be surprised? There was no way he was going to prison. I thought it was fairly obvious that DeLuca must have dropped the charges. He seemed confused by Arizona's statement about never seeing Alex again.

Tiffany: The only thing I can come up with is maybe Deluca refused to testify for some reason and that hurt the prosecutions chances of proving their case to the point where they decided to drop the charges.

Maybe Alex told Deluca he was going to take the plea to protect Jo and maybe Deluca realized that's all Alex was ever trying to do. We know Deluca has feelings for Jo too so maybe he also wanted to protect her from her husband.

It's far-fetched but the show better have some explanation as to what happened because leading us on for so long then just dropping it is pretty frustrating.

Jasmine: Thanks to the comments jogging my memory, I recalled that Deluca was trying to tell Jo something. Most likely, it was that he dropped the charges, because he wanted to protect her. I guess that's the direction they're going in.

Interestingly enough, it still could be at the prosecution's discretion to charge him even if Deluca dropped the charges, and Alex would be the perfect candidate to "make an example out of it," but they have to find a way to write themselves out of this corner, so I guess that's the best route.

I agree that it was a pretty insane storyline to gives us and if it's not wrapped up in a decent way it will be frustrating.

Do you think Amelia is being childish, hiding out at Stephanie's house and avoiding Owen?

Amanda: A thousand times yes! Even if she thinks her marriage can't be saved, she should still act like a grown up and face Owen. Hiding out isn't going to fix or change anything. She's simply avoiding making the decision to either try to work things out or get a divorce.

Tiffany: I do. I've never been a huge fan of Amelia and this just makes her more annoying to me. If she would have been honest with Owen from the start, they could have worked through it together. It's not like she personally or intentionally killed her baby or its father. What happened to her was tragic. Owen would have understood.

Jasmine: Amelia is so much better than this. This storyline is bugging me too, because it's like the writers forgot that Amelia told Owen about her previous baby already! If he already knows about the baby, because she did tell him, than why is she suddenly clamming up and shutting him out now?

I don't understand why she can't talk to her own husband. They've had conversations confessing some of their deepest, darkest sins. It feels like unnecessary angst right now.

Are you Team Eliza or Team Richard? What did you think about Richard and the gang's mutiny against Eliza and Bailey?

Amanda: While I'm not a fan of Eliza, Richard's mutiny doesn't help anything. Eliza is trying to do her job. The real issues Richard and the hospital staff have is with Bailey and they should be addressed to her and not Eliza.

Tiffany: Team Richard, always. Eliza is annoying and the way Bailey is handling the transition is just as bad.

Jasmine: Team Richard. The most irritating thing about Eliza, is she actually has valid reasons for changing things up, she just sucks at doing things properly. She's a very off-putting character and she's rude.

It seems like her mission right now is to just go after Richard. And Bailey is caught in the middle of this mess with Eliza, Richard, and Catherine, but there's a lot of things she didn't handle properly at all.

Jo nearly cost someone their life because she was too distracted with Alex's situation and then blew up at Ben. Is Jo becoming a liability? Or do you sympathize with her?

Amanda: She definitely didn't have her head in the game, and that's not a good thing at all. Hopefully she'll start paying attention to her patients again when she learns Alex isn't locked away. Also, her outburst at Ben was totally uncalled for, but she doesn't have the best track record of accepting help or a shoulder to lean on.

Tiffany: I still have hope for Jo but it's wearing thin. The writers need to start redeeming her soon.

Jasmine: I need someone to tell Jo to get her crap together. Jo needs a Christina Yang in her life. I would love to see the writers do something for her character.

What would you grade the episode?

Amanda: I'd give it a B. I wasn't entirely invested in every patient storyline and the mutiny against Eliza got on my nerves. However, Meredith spending the day looking for Alex was realistic to watch, and I'm glad he is back home.

Tiffany: B-

Jasmine: I would give it a B+. The previous episodes were darker and heavier. I appreciated the fun that came with Richard's mutiny, and even Meredith spending the day trying to track down Alex. Even though I thought Amelia was being immature, I was entertained by her hiding at Stephanie's apartment.

The weird, gruesome hockey case was so very Grey's too. It all felt like throwback Grey's. Especially with the high schoolish shenanigans. Plus that Mer and and Alex scene at the end was too cute for words. Fingers crossed that Alex gets his Waffle Sundays now.

What happened to Katherine Heigl? – 9TheFIX

Katherine Heigl's meteoric rise in Hollywood started with her breakout role in Grey's Anatomy.

Heigl, now 41 years old, played medical intern Dr. Isobel Stevenson in the medical drama for six seasons. Her acting in the series cemented her place amongst Hollywood's A-listers and transformed her into a bankable movie star.

In 2007, Heigl was at the top of her game. She was the first Grey's Anatomy actor to win an Emmy for their performance on the program. Heigl had also received two Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actress in 2007 and 2008.

However, her descent was equally as swift, and suddenly the beloved actress had a lot of explaining to do.

In 2008, Katherine Heigl was expecting another Emmy nomination for Grey's Anatomy. However, she pulled out of the race saying she didn't deserve a nomination because the writing for her character wasn't good enough in Season 4.

"I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organisation, I withdrew my name from contention," she said in an official statement. "In addition, I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials."

In 2012, veteran showrunner Shonda Rhimes addressed Heigl's choice to pull herself from contention in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.

"On some level it stung and on some level I was not surprised," Rhimes told Winfrey of Heigl's 2008 statement. "When people show you who they are, believe them. I carry that [mantra] with me a lot. It has served me well."

Heigl's Emmy incident may have just blown over. But it coincided with her making some controversial comments about her role in Judd Apatow's critically acclaimed comedy Knocked Up.

In a 2008 cover story for Vanity Fair, Heigl told Leslie Bennett that she had some personal problems with the film.

"It was a little sexist," she said. "It paints the women as shrews, as humourless and uptight, and it paints the men as lovable, goofy, fun-loving guys. It exaggerated the characters, and I had a hard time with it, on some days. I'm playing such a bitch; why is she being such a killjoy? Why is this how you're portraying women? Ninety-eight per cent of the time it was an amazing experience, but it was hard for me to love the movie."

In 2016, Heigl seemed to backpedal on her remarks about the film and considered issuing an apology to Apatow.

"I liked the movie a lot. I just didn't like me," Heigl said during an interview on The Howard Stern Show in April, 2016. On her character, Heigl said, "She was kind of like, she was so judgemental and kind of uptight and controlling and all these things and I really went with it while we were doing it, and a lot of it, Judd allows everyone to be very free and improvise and whatever, and afterwards, I was like, 'Why is that where I went with this? What an arsehole she is!'"

"I've thought about writing a note," she said. "I feel embarrassed. I don't want to feel insincere on any level."

She also recalled how she'd issued an apology to Rhimes after her Emmys statement that caused an uproar at the time.

"I went in because I was really embarrassed. So I went in to [see] Shonda and said, 'I'm so sorry. That wasn't cool. I should not have said that.' And I shouldn't have said anything publicly," Heigl added. "But at the time, I didn't think anybody would notice... I just quietly didn't submit and then it became a story, and I felt I was obligated to make my statement, and [I should have just said], 'Shut up, Katie.'"

Despite her reputation taking a hit, Heigl landed three leading film roles: 27 Dresses (2008), The Ugly Truth (2009), and Life As We Know It (2010).

However, the job offers soon began to slow down. She was cast for a small role in New Year's Eve (2011) which was a flop at the box office.

Heigl then signed on for the lead role in One for the Money (2012), which bombed and only grossed US$36 million. The same year, she expressed interest in returning to the show that catapulted her to fame: Grey's Anatomy.

"I really, really, really want to see where [Izzie] is," she told E! Online during promotion for One for the Money. "I just want to know what happened to her and where she went and what she's doing now. My idea is that she actually, like, figures it out, and finds some success and does really well in a different hospital. She was always floundering, you know, and so she was always one step behind the eight ball and I want to see that girl take some power back."

But show-creator Rhimes didn't seem tempted by Heigl's renewed interest in the show.

"I think it was really nice to hear her appreciating the show. At the same time we are on a track we have planning," Rhimes told TV Guide in 2012. "The idea of changing that track is not something we are interested in right now."

By 2014, there was no denying that industry had turned its back on Heigl. "This thing that was my best friend for a long time suddenly turned on me," Heigl told Marie Claire in 2014.

"And I didn't expect it. I was taken by surprise and angry at it for betraying me.

Last year, Heigl's career seemed to take a turn for the better when she was cast in the legal drama Suits.

When Meghan Markle left the show to marry Prince Harry, Heigl stepped in as a new character to replace the Duchess of Sussex. It was the TV comeback that Heigl's remaining fans had hoped for.

"Joining Suits was the perfect organic way to not only collaborate with an E.P. I admire deeply, but to also become part of a show and cast that I am an immense fan of," Heigl told The Hollywood Reporter. "I have watched Suits from the very beginning and feel incredibly lucky to be the newest member of the Pearson Specter Litt family."

Heigl is in the middle of post-production for a Netflix series called Firefly Lane, which is based on the novel by Kristin Hannah. She's also in post-production for a film called Fear of Rain and just finished filming a pilot for a TV series called Our House.

Heigl is reportedly worth US$30 million (approx. $45.4 million), according to celebritynetworth.com.

Heigl and her husband Josh Kelley share three children: Nancy Leigh Mi-Eun Kelley, Adalaide Marie Hope Kelley, Joshua Bishop Kelley, Jr. They have been married since 2007, and are still going strong.

There's no doubt that the actress has had a tumultuous career but it appears that Heigl is finally back on track.
